A Little Bit of it All

Variety! I love variety! Except when it comes to the woman I'm dating, one is fine - I'll indulge in just one! Back on topic, the best desert times are when there is a wide spread of options. Taking a little bit of everything typically pleasures all areas of the palette. Therefore, though this post may not be as pleasing as desert, I will start my blog by touching a little bit on all of the topics I said you would find in my previous post. The indulgences will come later!

I will start off with the name of the blog: the URL, title and tag-line. The URL and tag-line go hand in hand. Last week at Emerge, our churches young adult and college age ministry - which will probably be the inspiration to some future posts, our director pointed out something that I never realized. According to physics, bees should not be able to fly, but has many of us have witnessed - they do! After researching this I found some scientist ruined this perfect analogy with an article on how they fly, but the physics are still there. The fact is, a bumble bee's wings are significantly smaller than they need to be for flight; yet the bee still flies and is something to glorify. The bee is completely unique, and needs an unique method to fly - just like you and me. Of course I do not mean literally, physically fly; nor emotionally fly due to psychedelic drugs - but to excel. Each person has a unique success story, and each person defines success differently - but to get their all of them had to initiate success, fully knowing that "their wings were too small for them to fly". God made us all in the humble state of a human being, and in that state we have to utilize faith to enable ourselves to fly. That faith of course is that we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us (Philippians 4:13). This was by no means the message that Jeffrey, our director, was sharing at the moment - but reflection on this sparked some inspiration.
To follow up that long explanation, it takes just a quick moment to explain the title of the blog. Just Wing it has been a motto of my best friend, Justin, and mine for a long time. It was inspired by our names. The first four letters from his first name and the first four letters from my last name. Just Wing It! The inspired spontaneity, from the motto, makes life more interesting.

I do not have much to say regarding politics right now. I will probably only rant on this topic from time to time, as our politicians have the back-bone of a bug (none) and waste their time. Some opinion, I know, but what is Barack Obama doing making a sales pitch for Chicago? Exhibit A of millions. I'll save the rest for future posts.

SPORTS! Again, not much to say right now, but I will touch on a few things. Tim Tebow, sorry buddy, I cheered! At first at least. Tim's motionless body made me feel like a jerk for just cheering, but it was a good clean hit - it was unfortunate that his lineman's knee was where it was. Thankfully he will be okay, as for our football team, yikes! I hope I never see a game like that again. Coach Brooks is probably still seeing yellow flags out of the corner of his eyes. I hope this week against Alabama will at least be something to hold our heads up high about, last week I hope the team had their heads between their legs - due to their own performance.

My latest happenings are rarely important, but right now I'm making my first ever batch of homemade wine! Two actually, a gallon of red wine and a gallon of white! Hopefully all will go well. I was hoping to bottle them last night, but I will probably have to wait a few more days because the fermentation is taking longer that I expected. I'll post when I have the results.

As I finish, I want to leave a question. Ponder it, and post a comment with a response. Feel free to spark some thought with your response, I may post on it later.

Why do people shy away from inspiration?
(The thought came from how our natural reaction is to dodge bees at all costs)
